The Black side moves first; custom disc colors only change the look. Standard Othello rules apply at every board size.

How Othello works

Place a disc where it traps one or more opposing discs between the new disc and another of your discs. Trapped discs flip. The Black side moves first, even when custom colors are selected. You must play a legal move when you have one; if you have none, you pass. The game ends when neither player can move, and the player with more discs wins.
